If we think of emotions as outside of us, we can better direct them and often prevent them from intensifying. If we realize that negative emotions come and go, we can respect them but not act on them. ‘Feel the emotion’ and it let it pass. Most times we regret if we act on a negative emotions. Also, try not to let negative emotions get you down and reshape your self image. They are not ‘you’. As Eckhart Tolle says, “Boredom, anger, sadness, or fear are not ‘yours,’ not personal. They are conditions of the human mind. They come and go. Nothing that comes and goes is you.”
